These photographs show Kyiv’s May Day demonstration. The festive crowd walked through the city centre five days after the Chornobyl accident.

Photographs of the May Day demonstration on Khreshchatyk bring the people and the city into view. The accident had already happened. The authorship and provenance of individual photographs still need clarification by the museum.
